To hand-knit a blanket, you can follow the detailed steps below:
Starting:
First, tie a slipknot, with the short thread at the bottom and the long thread on top.
Put your hand through the hole and pull the long thread out, adjusting the size of the loop so that you can fit three fingers in. When you cast on, you can make this row a little loose, but the knot should be tight, not too tight.
Next, pass your hand through the first loop, pull the long thread up, and pull out a new loop, which is the second stitch of the cast on.In the same way, continue to cast on until you reach the required number of stitches (such as 26-28 stitches, the blanket is about 1.1-1.2 meters wide).
Weaving:
From each stitch of the cast on, pull out an upward loop. The new loop can be slightly smaller than the one when you cast on. Pull a new loop out of each old loop, control the size of the loop, and weave evenly. After knitting the last stitch of a row, count the number of loops to make sure no stitches are lost. Then knit the next row and repeat until the required length is reached.
Changing the thread:
When you need to change the color, put the new thread through another loop from the first loop, and then continue knitting in the same way. When changing the thread, tie two knots at the front thread end to prevent it from unraveling.
Finishing:
When you knit to the last stitch of the last row, start finishing. First put one loop up, then put the second loop, and then pull the second loop out of the first loop. Then put the next new loop, put the new loop through the old loop and pull it out, and so on. Knit to the last loop, pass the thread end through the loop and tighten it, and close the end.
